11 year old Dontai Joseph’s run in the Under-17 Boys National Singles took him right through to the final on Friday.

He qualified for Leamington by winning his round of 16 match in July. He won his opening match at Leamington, the quarter final, 21-10. He won the semi final next day 21-14, but in the final came up against Ollie Jeapes (Huntingdonshire) who is four or five years older and plays in the England U-25 side. Ollie won 21-8.
We congratulate Dontai for his wonderful achievement. He is the first Wadebridge player ever to reach a final at Leamington (though if you delve into bowls pre-history you will find that Roger Priestley was a finalist when the championships were played at Worthing).
Throughout, several members were keeping tabs on the Bowls England live scores and relaying them to club members via WhatsApp. We are really proud.
