There were fears that the rain forecast for Saturday, 21st April 2023 would keep people away from our annual Taster Day – an opportunity for anyone to come along and give bowls a try, free of charge and free of obligation.
The rain duly made its appearance, but, to our surprise and delight, so did the people. Not as many as last year, admittedly, but the ones who came were clearly keen and most of them signed up for our introductory membership fee of £12 for the first year. So we now have eleven new members, plus a junior.
There was a good turn out of club coaches and members, many of whom ended up with damp feet after 4 or 5 hours in the rain. Our thanks to them.
The kitchen provided teas and coffees – I say the kitchen but it was mainly Barbara and Barbara – and the bar was open for business, which helped. A nice cool ginger beer after a few ends of bowls is just the ticket, hem hem.
