Wadebridge Bowling Club held its annual presentation of trophies and other awards at a dinner held on 30th September at The Swan Hotel in Wadebridge.

Wadebridge Ladies won the Tamar League, confirming their top slot with a final match victory.

The bowling club’s Charity Day raised £255 in aid of President David Atfield’s chosen charity, the RNLI, on Saturday 26th August.

The annual Wadebridge v Egloshayle match brings out the hidden rivalries in the club as staunch friends and allies in the league matches against other clubs turn implacable foes depending on which side of the River Camel they live.

Wadebridge became Group 2 Champions in the Mixed Triples and Men’s Top Team last week.

Mixed Triple 1

The annual Men v Ladies match has long been a fixture in the Wadebridge Bowling Club calendar. Of late, the reduced number of ladies in the club has meant that a number of men have to volunteer to play in the Ladies team, to make a match of it.

It is fair to say that some men take that obligation VERY seriously, and some – er – don’t.

Wadebridge A had a good 4-1 home win over Bude A on 15th June, 73 shots to 51.

Catching up on a couple of weeks without a report, Wadebridge Men had a miserable time, playing away at a cold, windy Bude. The B team lost 5-0 (10-14, 16-21 and 8-29) whilst the A team went down 1.5-3.5 in a close match: 19-17, 13-18, 19-19, for an overall score of 51-54.

Wadebridge Ladies have been having mixed success so far in the leagues this season.
