Wadebridge Ladies played their Group 2 Top Team final at Bude on Saturday 2nd August against Saltash, but were unable to cap a good run with a win. Saltash proved to be the better side on the day.
Wadebridge got a great start when Barbara Bell won the 2-wood singles 15-7. The pairs and fours began well but Saltash gradually caught up and pulled ahead in the final third of the match. The triples fell behind early on, staged a recovery to within 4 shots, but then fell away again. That gave Saltash a winning position 3 rinks to 1 with only the 4-wood singles in play. Aly Tapley was leading 14-11, but the match was stopped as it couldn't affect the result.

And your editor concurs – runners-up in the first year back after several years of not being able to put out a team is an achivement the Ladies, and the entire club, should be proud of.
