Four wins, one draw and a loss made this another successful week in the leagues for Wadebridge.
The week began with the B Team visiting Bude on Monday and picking up a single point, after Terry Darby, Dave Bramman, Alan Carruthers and Kevin Smith scored three successive fours to go from 9-15 down to a 21-15 win. This 100% improvement over the first match got even better on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Dunheved B at home. Mention must be made of Barry Davies, Steve Iles and Keith Dodd who only started this season and acquitted themselves very well in their first games for the club.
On Wednesday afternoon the Ladies had a very close fought Rippon in horrible weather at home, leading by a shot going into the final end and conceding one for a 15-15 draw against Bude A.
The Men’s ECBL team played on Wednesday evening (no rain) and won 7-0 against Camelford, keeping them top of the league after 3 matches.
The Men struck lucky with the weather again on Thursday, the A Team travelling through a torrential downpour to mild and balmy Bude, where they took another 5-0 win.
Meanwhile, the Ladies were playing another game in the pouring rain, winning at home to Torpoint in the Tamar by 26-7.
National Triples
Wadebridge had five triples at four greens in the National Triples last Saturday. Sadly, four of them did not get beyond the first day, leaving Roger Priestley, George Tinker and Harry Tinker to carry the flag into Sunday. They won the first match, the Group semi-final, against a strong Kensey triple, but missed out in the final against Saltash. They do still go forward to the County quarter-finals, though. Congratulations!
