Three teams from Wadebridge were among the 26 from across Group 2 entered in the National triples competition, played over the weekend of 13-14 May.

David Grant, Kevin Jones and Richard Jones played at Saltash and won through the first two rounds, finally being defeated by a Dunheved triple skipped by Kieran Sargent in the final match on Saturday.

Roger Priestley (substituting for Chris Adrian), Harry Tinker and George Tinker played at Lostwithiel, winning all 3 games on Saturday and thus going through to the finals day at Kensey Vale.

Andrew Phillips, Trevor Little and Kevin Smith had a bye in the first round at Dunheved. In the second round they dropped steadily behind a Saltash triple, being six down with three ends to play. But a single, a 4, and a last-end 2 saw them through. A comfortable 23-9 win against a Bodmin triple took them also to Kensey Vale on Sunday.

Sunday saw the two Wadebridge teams play each other, while two Dunheved teams also played off. Chris (returning), Harry and George won comfortably, although the scores were close up to the 11th end. In the Dunheved match, Keiran beat his grandfather, and then went on to win against the Wadebridge trio. Not the result hoped for, but Wadebridge nonetheless go through as qualifiers to the Cornwall finals. Congratulations to Adrian, Harry and George.
