The Men's A and B teams started their league programme last week with contrasting 4-1 away wins over Dunheved.

There were fears that the rain forecast for Saturday, 21st April 2023 would keep people away from our annual Taster Day – an opportunity for anyone to come along and give bowls a try, free of charge and free of obligation.

Wadebridge Bowling Club officially opened the new season on Saturday, 15th April. At least 25 members turned out, many wearing the new club shirts – same colours but more dynamic styling.

Thirty-odd people turned up for a Race Night at the clubhouse on 25th March, including a half dozen visiting from Dunheved club.

Club President David Atfield ran a highly sucessful quiz night on 4th February with around 15 teams of four competing over six rounds, with a break for bread & cheese and cake halfway through.

The Wadebridge Bowling Club outdoor season ended on Saturday, with Closing Day, a faith tea and the presentation of trophies and awards.

President Wendy reports that the total amount raised for the Alzheimer's Society was £300. Most was raised on Charity Day itself, through match fees, raffle, auction and spider, but this was supplemented by the raffle held during the friendly match against Ottery St Mary a few days later. Thanks to the home and visiting players on both days, and to everyone who helped.

Wadebridge Ladies ended their season on an upturn, winning their last Rippon match 26-13 against Dunheved (Velda Smith, Pam Johnson, Mae Bargate, Barbara Swaby). They also won their Tamar match against Dunheved 18-13 (Barbara Bell, Alison Tapley, Pam Johnson, Barbara Swaby). Well done!

The Bowling Club held its Charity Day in blazing sunshine on Saturday afternoon (13th August), to raise funds for President Wendy’s charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
